Today Sprint informed owners of the HTC Hero that they can now upgrade their devices to Android 2.1. Aside from all the new features found in Android 2.1, the update also includes the newest version of HTC’s Sense user interface, better corporate email support and a number of bug fixes. Sprint is not offering the update over the air. Instead, uses need to download the new version of Android to a Windows PC and install the new software via HTC’s Sync software or a microSD card.

Aaron’s HTC DROID Incredible review

HTC Droid Incredible

What’s Good: Stunning AMOLED display, fast 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8 GB of built-in storage (finally), and 8.0-megapixel camera.

What’s Bad
: Signal strength indicator is misleading; battery life is exceptionally poor.

Introduction

Incredible 1

When the Nexus One came to market, critics were quick to point out the flaws in the device.  As a result, media circles have continually wondered when a revamped Android device would hit the market that fixed the problems on the Nexus One.  Despite a few issues, I’m here to tell you that the HTC DROID Incredible is just that device.  Complete with the same processor and 3.7-inch AMOLED display, the Incredible ups the ante with Sense UI, an 8.0-megapixel camera, and an optical trackpad.  Though it addresses most of the concerns that the Nexus One was plagued with, is it incredible enough to justify the name?

While this is cool and all, I have to admit I’m not impressed at all. My N95 8GB does this as well so… where is the awsomeness of this? In fact my N95 8GB even runs Windows 95 and Windows 98…

Well, still nice to watch so enjoy!

Verizon can’t keep up with demand for HTC DROID Incredible, shortage of parts to blame

17 de May de 2010 Leave a comment

If you didn’t pre-order the HTC DROID Incredible, and you’re not one of the lucky who managed to purchase the phone the day it came out, chances are you can’t get one now, nor will you be able to until some time around June 4th.  Verizon sold 100,000 DROID Incredibles just two days into the launch of the device and it has been difficult to get a hold of one ever since.

You would think this is something that would have been anticipated and better planned for considering sales of the Motorola DROID as well as the success of the Incredible’s sibling the HTC HD2.  However, it appears that the problem lies within a shortage of parts for the device which has delayed production, thereby delaying delivery of the devices to stores.  According to MSNBC, Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon, said that “Verizon is unable to keep up with strong demand for the Droid Incredible smartphone from HTC, due in part to component shortages such as the advanced screens made by Samsung Electronics.”

Until the shortage issue can be worked out, it looks like VZW will be focusing on online sales, presumably due to the further reach of the internet.  So, if you really want a DROID Incredible (and if you do, I can’t blame you) you should probably get to ordering one soon to secure your spot in line and make sure you don’t have to wait until the next shipment.  Considering that you’ll likely receive it on the 4th of June, however, I’ve heard you can get another CDMA HTC device on another network that very same day.  Perhaps you should consider that?

If you had to choose between the EVO 4G and the DROID Incredible, knowing you could have either one on the same day, which would you choose?  Let us know in the comments below!

Good news for Verizon, looks like a best seller to me 😀

Android: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Rooted

Android: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Rooted

Android on Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 got rooted. ROMs are coming in few weeks but the potential for tethering, custom themes, screenshots etc is right here, right now. It takes some money, time and effort to root the X10 so you better wait for the rooted ROMs to be out in the wild soon.

Good news to all those hackers and modders out there on the Android scene! Enjoy the good news! 😛
